Building Confidence Through Consultations With Partners and Dialogue
Countries |
- NATO's dialogue with partners plays a distinct role in the overall
efforts of the Alliance to promote a broader, more comprehensive
and more verifiable arms control and disarmament process, and in
the achievement of the Alliance's non-proliferation goals.
- NATO recognises that confidence and trust are necessary conditions
for an irreversible disarmament process and for non-proliferation
efforts to succeed, and that confidence and trust can only be achieved
through openness and transparency. The Alliance has adopted a comprehensive
approach to enhance openness and transparency in proliferation-related
matters, including consultations with Partners on our ability to
operate together under the threat of WMD use.
