Press Guidelines for the Informal Meeting of Defence Ministers Toronto, Canada, 21st and 22nd September 1999 The Defence Ministers and Representatives of the Alliance met informally in Toronto, Canada, on 21st and 22nd September. In their discussions, the Ministers gave particular attention to the situations in Kosovo and Bosnia-Herzegovina; NATO's relations with its Partners, in particular Russia and Ukraine; the status of work on the Defence Capabilities Initiative launched at the Washington Summit; and the implementation of other Washington Summit defence-related decisions, including the initiative on the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the further development of the European Security and Defence Identity within the Alliance. The Ministers expressed their thanks to their Canadian colleague, Minister Arthur Eggleton, for hosting the meeting.
