First
Day in Office of NATO Secretary General
Lord Robertson
The new Secretary General of NATO, The Rt. Hon. The Lord Robertson of
Port Ellen, will take up his duties on 14 October 1999. He will arrive at
NATO Headquarters at 10.15, having been greeted at the airport by the
Deputy Secretary General, Ambassador Sergio Balanzino. He will briefly
address the media.
Subsequently, the new Secretary General will meet the Permanent
Representatives on the North Atlantic Council and senior civilian and
military NATO officials.

Accreditation
Media wishing to cover the Secretary General's arrival at the Main
Entrance will be allowed onto the NATO premises from 09.00 onwards, and
should take up their positions before 09.45.
Due to space restrictions, the NATIP pool will cover other events
inside the Headquarters during the morning and will produce video footage
and still pictures, which will be availabe as quickly as possible :
