Appointment of General Dr. Klaus Reinhardt, German Army, to succeed Lt.Gen. Sir Michael Jackson as Commander KFOR General Dr. Klaus Reinhardt, Commander Allied Land Forces Central Europe (LANDCENT) has been appointed to serve as next Commander of the NATO peace support mission in Kosovo (KFOR), effective 8 October 1999.General Dr. Reinhardt was nominated on the recommendation of the Supreme Allied Commander Europe, General Wesley K. Clark, in his capacity as the commander of Strategic Command Europe. General Reinhardt will assume command of KFOR, succeeding General Sir Michael Jackson, Commander of the Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps (ARRC). General Sir Michael Jackson has served as the KFOR commander since the beginning of the operation. The change of command is scheduled for October 8 in Pristina, Kosovo. Furthermore, beginning on October 8, LANDCENT will become the headquarters of the KFOR peace support mission in Kosovo. LANDCENT will assume the responsibility from the Allied Command Europe Rapid Reaction Corps which has been deployed since early 1999 to support NATO's mission in Kosovo. |
