New Kyiv Information Officer Appointed

The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Dr. Javier Solana, today announced the appointment of Ms Natalie Melnyczuk as Kyiv Information Officer, with immediate effect. She will work at NATO's Information and Documentation Centre, which is hosted in the Institute for International Relations at Taras Shevchenko University. The Centre was opened on 7 May 1997 to provide the Ukrainian public information on NATO and security issues in general.

Ms Melnyczuk, born in the United States of America, has been living and working in Ukraine since 1995. Between December 1996 and 1999, she was Manager for The US-Ukraine Foundation of a U.S.A.I.D. funded project providing information and comparative policy perspectives to deputies of the Ukrainian Parliament. Before that, between 1988-1996, Ms. Melnyczuk specialized in analysis of Eastern Europe, working with US, Ukrainian and Russian academic and non-governmental organizations. Additionally she has worked with Latin American, Asian and African governments.
