NATO Secretary General to visit Portugal 3-4 September 1998 The Secretary General of NATO, Dr. Javier Solana, will be making an official visit to Portugal on 3 and 4 September 1998. During his visit he will be meeting with the President of the Republic, Mr. Jorge Sampaio; the Prime Minister, Mr. Antonio Manuel de Oliveira Guterres, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Jaime Gama on 4 September and the Minister of National Defence, Prof Veiga Simao. Dr. Solana will also deliver a speech at the SACLANT Seminar on Friday, 4 September at 08.30, followed by a visit to the Expo 98. A press opportunity is foreseen at the NATO Pavilion at Expo 98 on Friday 4 September at 11.30. A joint press conference with the Minister of Foreign Affairs will take place in the press room of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on 4 September at 13.00.
