New Kyiv Information Officer appointed The Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, Dr. Javier Solana, today announced the appointment of Dr. Taras Kuzio as Kyiv Information Officer with immediate effect. He will work at NATO's Information and Documentation Centre, which is hosted in the Institute for International Relations at Taras Shevchenko University. The Centre was opened on 7 May 1997 to inform the Ukrainian public on NATO and security issues in general. Dr. Kuzio, citizen of the UK, was born on 7 April 1958 in Halifax, West Yorkshire. He has spend most of his career specializing in Ukrainian affairs. Between 1995 and 1998, he was Senior Research Fellow at the Centre for Russian and East European Studies at the University of Birmingham. During this same period, starting in 1996, he was Senior Research Fellow in the Council of Advisers to the Ukrainian Parliament. Before that, between 1986 and 1995, he was a journalist specializing in Ukrainian affairs.
