NATO Secretary General to visit Switzerland
The Secretary General of NATO, Dr. Javier Solana, will pay an official visit to Switzerland on 14 November 1997. This is the first official visit by a NATO Secretary General to Switzerland, which has been participating in Partnership for Peace (PfP) since 11 December 1996 and has been a member of the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) since its creation on 30 May 1997.
Mr. Solana will meet with Mr. Flavio Cotti, Vice-President of the Swiss Confederation and Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs and with Mr. Adolf Ogi, Federal Minister of Defence in Bern. He will also meet members of the Parliamentary Committees for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy.
In the afternoon, the Secretary General will travel to Geneva and deliver a speech on "Cooperation and Security in Europe - risks, challenges and apportunities" on invitation by the Swiss Association for Foreign Policy.
The Secretary General will attend a press conference together with Mr. Cotti and Mr. Ogi at the "Domaine du Lohn" on 14 November at 14.15.
