North Atlantic Council to Visit Ottawa, Washington and SACLANT The Secretary General of NATO, Dr. Javier Solana, and the members of the North Atlantic Council will visit Canada and the United States from 28 to 31 October 1997. On Tuesday, 28 and Wednesday, 29 October, they will meet in Ottawa with Minister of Foreign Affairs Lloyd Axworthy, Minister of National Defence Art Eggleton and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Don Campbell. The Council will also meet with Canadian opinion leaders and security experts for an exchange of views. On Thursday, 30 October, the North Atlantic Council will be in Washington to meet with Secretary of Defence William Cohen, the National Security Adviser, Samuel Berger and the Under-Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Thomas Pickering. The Council will also meet with American opinion leaders and security experts for an exchange of views. On Friday, 31 October, the Council will meet with SACLANT, Admiral Harold Gehman, and Deputy SACLANT, Vice Admiral Ian Garnett. They will attend a demonstration and briefing on board USS Mount Whitney. This schedule is subject to change.
