NATO Secretary General to visit United States From 23rd to 29th July, the Secretary General of NATO, Dr. Javier Solana, will visit the United States. During this visit, Dr. Solana will meet with the Secretary of Defense, Mr. William Cohen, the Deputy Secetary of State, Mr. Strobe Talbott, and the National Security Adviser, Mr. Samuel Berger. The Secretary General will also meet with a number of Congressional leaders, including members of the Senate NATO Observer Group. The Secretary General will also meet the United Nations Secretary General, Mr. Kofi Annan. In addition to Washington DC, Dr. Solana will be visiting Philadelphia, Boston and New York and will speak on NATO issues to a number of institutions and bodies, including: The Atlantic Council of the United States; American University, Washington DC; National Defense University, Washington DC; American Enterprise Institute; Foreign Policy Institute / World Affairs Council of Philadelphia; World Affairs Council of Boston; Masssachusetts Institute of Technology / Harvard University Boston; Columbia University, New York; Foreign Policy Association, New York.
