Signature of Security Agreement between NATO and WEU A Security Agreement between the North Atlantic Alliance and Western European Union will be signed by the NATO Secretary General, Dr. Javier Solana, and the WEU Secretary General, Mr. Jos Cutileiro, on Monday, 6 May 1996. This Agreement sets out procedures for protecting and safeguarding classified information and material provided by either organisation. Its existence is of great importance to NATO-WEU relations, as it will pave the way for strengthening further the cooperation between the two organisations, including in operational matters, based on the agreed principles of complementarity and transparency.
