Statement by the Secretary General of NATO The Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Javier Solana, has learned this evening with regret and sadness of the deaths of three soldiers serving with IFOR in Bosnia and of the injuries to seven others during a tragic accident at an IFOR compound in Sarajevo. He is currently in contact with the national authorities of the deceased soldiers and has asked them to transmit his deepest sympathy and condolences to the families concerned. IFOR's mission is to bring peace to Bosnia and those IFOR soldiers who have died or been injured were making an essential contribution to this cause.
