A conference “International efforts to establish peace and stability in Afghanistan: a view from Ukraine”

On 15 October 2009 in Kyiv the Association of Graduates, veterans and retired officers of the Kyiv Military Humanitarian Institute with the support of the NATO Information and Documentation Centre in Ukraine, is organizing a Conference “International efforts to establish peace and stability in Afghanistan: a view from Ukraine”.

Representatives of diplomatic missions, international organizations, government bodies and NGOs involved in explaining NATO’s role as a security organization in Ukraine, have been invited to participate in the Conference.

Among other issues, the participants will discuss Afghanistan’s historical development; modern security threats existing in Afghanistan and the region as well as ways to counteract them; NATO’s role in Afghanistan and international security capacities. Additionally, the international mission to Afghanistan and opportunities for Ukraine, the efforts of international organizations and individual countries to establish peace and stability in Afghanistan, ways to overcome economic and cultural obstacles and secure human rights, including the provision of other rights and freedoms, will be addressed.
