Chapter 5: Logistic Support for Peace Support Operations Conflict Prevention Missions 504. Conflict prevention can never be guaranteed, but there are several means which may have a positive effect in influencing the situation or encouraging a peaceful settlement. One means is preventive deployment, which may be attempted by the deployment of multinational forces to areas of potential crises. NATO already has the military means to confront all levels of potential conflict which could impact member nations, or even Europe as a whole.
