Ambassador Robert H. Serry is currently the Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Crisis Management and Operations at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. His responsibilities include the implementation of an effective NATO crisis management, from current commitments in the Balkans and in Afghanistan to preparing new operations elsewhere, and to undertake cooperative diplomacy in relation to crisis management activities, in particular with other international organisations and with countries in crisis areas.

His previous professional experience includes several diplomatic postings at Bangkok, Moscow, New York (United Nations) and Kiev (first Dutch Ambassador to independent Ukraine), as well as leading the Middle Eastern Affairs Division at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague.

Robert Serry helds a Master Degree in Political Science at the University of Amsterdam and has published on political and peacekeeping topics ranging from the Middle East to Eastern Europe.
