Stéphane Chagnot is the Financial Controller of the NATO International Staff. He is personally responsible for the correct use of international appropriated and non-appropriated funds made available to the Organisation, in particular for the NATO Civil Budget, the New NATO Headquarters Project, the Pension systems and a number of Trust Funds. The International Staff Office of Financial Control is an independent office in charge of accounting, budget control, treasury, procurement and internal audit functions for NATO Headquarters.

Chagnot Stéphane - Financial Controller

Stéphane Chagnot became Financial Controller of the NATO International Staff on 1 November 2010.

Following a career with the French Ministry of Industry then Ministry of Finance and Court of Accounts, Mr. Chagnot joined the International Staff, Office of Financial Control, in 1999. He has had increasingly responsible functions of financial management and control within NATO being appointed Head of Financial Resources, Executive Management Division in 2003 and from 2005 to 2010 Deputy Assistant Secretary General for Financial Resources with responsibility for the annual budget of the International Staff and the definition and implementation of the budget strategy.

Mr. Chagnot graduated from the University of Paris with a Masters in Economics from the Sorbonne. He is also a graduate of the French National School of Statistics and Economics Administration (ENSAE) and of the National School of Administration (ENA). Of French and English mother tongue, he is also fluent in Spanish.

Mr. Chagnot is married to Claire and has three adult children. His special interests are taijiquan, climbing and polyphonic music of the Renaissance.
