Ministers,
Excellencies,
Ladies and Gentlemen,

Good morning and welcome to this meeting of Defence Ministers of NATO and partner nations contributing to KFOR.

The security situation on the ground has improved since we met here in February of this year. As a result of the combined efforts by KFOR and EULEX, there is now greater freedom of movement.

At our meeting today, we will review the security situation in the northern part of Kosovo, where tensions remain. We will consider the implications for our force posture. And we will consider how our relationship with the Kosovo Security Force will continue to develop.

The KFOR mission and its new Commander – Major General Halbauer -- have our full support. KFOR has done an excellent job in maintaining a safe and secure environment for all people in Kosovo. And it will continue to fully implement its mandate.

I would now ask the representatives of the media to please leave the room so we can begin our work.
