South Eastern Europe is at the centre of a photo contest launched by NATO’s Public Diplomacy division this summer. This free competition is open to young people, aged 18 to 25, living in the region.

One picture per participant can be submitted in either jpg or tiff format before 31 August, noon Brussels time, on the competition website: www.enato.org.

Photographs should have been taken during summer 2009 and portray scenes of daily life in South Eastern Europe- panoramas, portraits, etc. -  either in the city or the countryside.

In September, a jury will select the best pictures on the basis of originality, effectiveness in communicating the authors’ vision of their country, and photographic skills.

A two-day visit to Brussels accompanied by briefings at NATO Headquarters will be awarded to the 25 top contestants. Their photos will be showcased on the photo contest website and become part of an itinerant exhibition in South Eastern Europe to take place this autumn and early 2010. NATO also reserves the right to use these photos in its publications.
