Young professionals discuss the future of the Black Sea region

Frozen conflicts in the Caucasus, energy security, European integration, and Euroatlantic relations with Russia were on the agenda of the 2nd annual International Black Sea Symposium. Organized by the International Centre for Black Sea Studies, the event took place on the Greek island of Kalymnos, Dodecanese, from 30 June to 5 July.

Co-sponsored by NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division, the Symposium, entitled “The Black Sea Region: The State of the Play and the Way Forward”, brought together some 40 young professionals and 20 leading experts from countries inside and outside the region

Black Sea countries face many challenges. During a series of workshops on conflict resolution, participants identified a number of possible solutions and ways to implement them in coming months.

Created to encouraged dialogue and cooperation in the Black Sea region and beyond, the Symposium fosters study and networking in a multicultural and interdisciplinary environment.
