NATO Deputy Secretary General discusses importance of Black Sea security

Ahead of the meeting of NATO Foreign Ministers in Bucharest later this month, Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană today (15 November 2022) thanked Romania for its “strong political, military and diplomatic leadership” in NATO. Mr Geoană was speaking at an event organised by the Romanian Ministry of Defence about the impact of the war in Ukraine on Black Sea security and NATO’s ongoing adaptation through the new Strategic Concept.

NATO Military Staff welcomes Ukrainian cadets

On 14 November 2022, the Cooperative Security Division of the International Military Staff (IMS) welcomed a group of Ukrainian cadets to NATO Headquarters for briefings on NATO-Ukrainian military cooperation. The cadets were officially welcomed by the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer.

NATO Secretary General highlights need for more support to Ukraine

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg participated in a meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group at Ramstein Air Base, Germany, on Thursday (8 September 2022). Coronavirus response: NATO donates oxygen generation systems to Romania

Romania received two oxygen generation systems from NATO’s Pandemic Response Stockpile on Monday (5 September 2022), to help the country respond to coronavirus infections and support medical evacuation efforts in support to Ukraine. NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC), NATO’s Support and Procurement Agency and Romania coordinated the donation, following a request by Romania for assistance in response to the ongoing pandemic.

NATO Secretary General message on Ukraine’s Independence Day

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg conveyed a video message of support to the people of Ukraine as they mark their Independence Day. Six months after the start of Russia’s illegal invasion of Ukraine, Mr Stoltenberg said, “Russia’s war in Ukraine is the greatest crisis for Europe’s security since World War Two. The Ukrainian armed forces and the whole Ukrainian people are showing tremendous courage and determination. And, under President Zelenskyy’s leadership, you are an inspiration to the world.”
