NATO Secretary General accepts Foreign Policy's ''Diplomat of the Year'' award

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg accepted the ''Diplomat of the Year'' award from Foreign Policy magazine at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday night (12 November 2019). Accepting the award from editor-in-chief Jonathan Tepperman, Mr. Stoltenberg made a case for "relentless transatlantic diplomacy, backed by credible transatlantic defence". Calling NATO "a unique diplomatic 'force multiplier'", he said: "when 29 nations speak with one voice, their voice is more powerful than any other in the world".

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee visited Iceland on 10-11 November 2019. During his visit, Air Chief Marshal Peach met with Iceland’s Chief of Defence, Minister Arnór Sigurjónsson, Minister of Foreign Affairs Guðlaugur Þór Þórðarson and with the Parliament’s Foreign Relations Committee.
