Frank Majoor

On 7 September 2009 Frank Majoor took up his duties as the Permanent Representative of the Netherlands on the North Atlantic Council.

From 2005 until 2009 Frank Majoor served as Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the United Nations in New York.

Between 2000 and 2005 Mr Majoor was the Secretary General of the Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs in The Hague.

From 1999 until 2000 he was Ambassador at Large in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the years 1997 – 1999 Mr Majoor was Ambassador, Permanent Representative of the Netherlands to the Conference on Disarmament in Geneva, Switzerland.

In 1993 he became the Director of the Security Policy Department and before that, he was the Special Advisor on Political Security matters, Deputy Director of the Atlantic Cooperation and Security Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

From 1986 until 1988 he was First Secretary (political matters) and from 1988 Minister Plenipotentiary (economic and financial matters) at the Netherlands Mission to the United Nations in New York.

Between 1982 and 1986 he served as Head Environmental Affairs Division of the Economic Cooperation Department and Assistant to the Director General for Political Affairs.

Mr Majoor started his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1976. In 1977 Mr Majoor became Third Secretary (development cooperation) at the Netherlands Embassy in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and after that Second Secretary (economic affairs) at the Netherlands Embassy in Bonn, Germany.

Mr Majoor was born on 1 April 1949. He is married to Dr. Danielle Majoor - Krakauer and has two daughters.

He studied Civil Law at the University of Leiden.
