Jordanian Parliamentarians visit NATO HQ

 On 19 June, NATO’s Public Diplomacy Division organised, in the context of the public diplomacy activities for the Mediterranean Dialogue, a visit to NATO Headquarters of Members of the Parliament of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan who met with NATO Secretary General Jaap de Hoop Scheffer.

The delegation included the Head of the Senate’s Committee on Foreign Affairs and former Prime Minister, Faisal El-Fayez, the former Chief of Royal Court and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Marwan Muasher and the former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Hani Mulki.

During the visit, the Members of Parliament also met with the Permanent Representative of Turkey on the North Atlantic Council, Ümit Pamir, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Political Affairs and Security Policy, Martin Erdmann, NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning, John P. Colston and were briefed by other Alliance officials on current NATO policies and missions, as well as on the enhanced Mediterranean Dialogue and the Istanbul Cooperation Initiative, launched at the 2004 Istanbul Summit.
