New NATO Secretary General to take up office

The incoming Secretary General of NATO, Mr. Jens Stoltenberg, will take up his duties on Wednesday 1st October 2014. He will hold a press conference on that day at NATO Headquarters.

09:00               Arrival of the Secretary General at the Main Entrance – Photo opportunity (no statement)

media wishing to cover the New NATO Secretary General’s arrival will be allowed to take positions at the Main Entrance from 08:15 onwards.

15:30               Press conference by the Secretary General
Salon des ambassadeurs (NATO Headquarters)

The press conference will be followed by a reception offered by the NATO Secretary General to all media representatives in attendance.

Coverage and distribution

The press conference will be available in original sound and English, free worldwide on satellite and live on NATO’s website. Original sound, as well as an English and French version will be available on the NATO website after the event.

NATO will offer audio-visual products of the press conference on the NATO website, and after the event via the NATO Channel television.

Accreditation and access

Media representatives holding a 2014 NATO media pass will have access as usual.

Media representatives not in possession of a 2014 NATO media pass and wishing to attend the event are invited to request accreditation directly at the main entranceof the NATO Headquarters, on 1st October, starting from 08:00.

They will have to present an ID and a valid press card (provided by a recognised national professional body of a NATO country – i.e. Government, Professional association, Union of journalists).

Those media representatives not having a valid press card (as listed previously) are invited to send a signed letter from their editor to NATO Press and Media Service, not later than 12h30 on Tuesday 30 September 2014. (fax +32.2707.1399; email: MOC@hq.nato.int).

Attendance confirmation

This is an event for Media representatives only. Those media representatives planning to attend the press conference and the reception are kindly requested to confirm their presence by email at press@hq.nato.int no later than Tuesday 30 September at 12h30.
