NATO highlights commitment to transparency with release of independent audit report

NATO made public on Friday (12 June 2015) an independent audit report on the Alliance’s common-funded investment programme – the NATO Security Investment Programme. The report, prepared by the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN), highlights the need for improvements in the way NATO and its Allies manage projects funded by this programme. The Alliance is already taking action on the recommendations to remedy shortcomings in accountability and management.

NATO reinforces cooperation with Supreme Audit Institutions

In an effort to enhance its procedures and benefit from the expertise of other institutions, the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) has initiated bilateral cooperation with a number of the Supreme Audit Institutions in NATO member countries, as well as with audit offices from European and international organisations.

NATO auditors strive for highest standards

Chairman of NATO’s International Board of Auditors (IBAN) Dr Charilaos Charisis and President of the Polish Supreme Audit Institution (NIK) Mr Krzysztof Kwiatkowski signed a memorandum for the External Evaluation of IBAN in Warsaw on 28 August 2014. Polish Deputy Minister of Defence Mr Czeslaw Mroczek was also present.

Publication of International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) report on NATO Defense College

NATO is releasing the first audit report of IBAN in its history. The North Atlantic Council (Council) decided that in accordance with basic principles of transparency and accountability that as of 1 January 2014 the reports of the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) together with any related financial statements should be disclosed to the public on a case by case basis. On 14 July 2014 the Council agreed that the IBAN report on the Financial Statements of the NATO Defense College for the year ended 31 December 2013 would be made available to the public.
