Chair of the NATO Military Committee: Lithuania is a staunch and important ally

From 6 to 9 February 2022, Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the NATO Military Committee was in Lithuania to meet with senior military and political officials. On 9 February he attended the ceremony for the 5th anniversary of the NATO enhanced Forward Presence multinational battle group deployment in Lithuania.

The Chair of the NATO Military Committee praises France's significant contributions to Allied Deterrence and Defence

On 17th December 2021, Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the NATO Military Committee was in Paris to meet with General Thierry Burkhard, Chief of Defence of the French Armed Forces. He also visited the Centre for Planning and Conduct of Operations where he received a series of briefings on France's military activities.

The Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits Iceland

On 14-15 October 2021, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Robert Bauer, was in Iceland where he met with key Icelandic representatives, including the Permanent Secretary of State, Mr Martin Eyjólfsson, and the Director General of the Directorate for Security and Defence, Ms Bryndís Kjartansdóttir. He also visited the NATO Control Reporting Centre Keflavík (CRC) and NATO Anti-Submarine Warfare Hangar.

On 5th October 2021, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer welcomed Vice Admiral Daniel W. Dwyer to NATO HQ, in Brussels, Belgium. The two first met in Norfolk on the 23rd September 2021 in the wings of the change of command ceremony for the Supreme Allied Commander Transformation.

Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits Turkey

On the 6th and 7th September 2021, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer was in Turkey, where he met the Minister of Defence, Mr Hulusi Akar and the Chief of Defence, General Yaşar Güler. The Admiral visited NATO Allied Land Command, as well as the NATO-accredited Centre of Excellence Defence Against Terrorism and the Partnership for Peace Training Centre.

Today, 25 June 2021, Admiral Rob Bauer of the Royal Netherlands Navy took over as Chair of the NATO Military Committee. Elected in October 2020, Admiral Bauer begins his three-year tenure just one week after the Brussels Summit with Heads of State and Government.

NATO Chiefs of Defence ensure military adaptability

NATO’s 30 Allied Chiefs of Defence met today, 18 May, at NATO Headquarters for their second meeting of 2021. Four weeks away from the Heads of State and Government Summit at NATO Headquarters in Belgium, the Allied Chiefs discussed NATO 2030, Military Strategic adaptation and planning, and NATO-led operations, missions, activities. They also met with the Chiefs of Defence of two of NATO’s Enhanced Opportunity Partners, Ukraine and Georgia.

Chairman of the Military Committee affirms NATO solidarity with Czech Republic during visit to Prague

The Chairman of the Military Committee Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach visited the Czech Republic 3-5 May 2021. While in Prague, the Chairman met with Prime Minister Babis, Defence Minister Mr. Lubomir Metnar, Chair of the Defence Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of Parliament, Ms. Jana Cernochova and the Chief of Defence, General Ales Opata.
