NATO Military Committee Chairman visits Ukraine

Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach, Chairman of the NATO Military Committee and senior military advisor to the Secretary General paid a long-planned visit to Kyiv, Ukraine on 6-7 April 2021. Air Chief Marshal Peach met with the President of Ukraine, Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel-General Ruslan Khomchak.

Kabul – On 30 March 2021, Turkish Brigadier General Selçuk Yurtsizoğlu assumed command of the NATO-led Train, Advise, Assist Command-Capital, receiving his flag from Lieutenant General Nicola Zanelli, Deputy Commander of the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission. Brigadier General Yurtsizoğlu replaced Brigadier General Ahmet Yaşar Dener.

NATO delivers IT equipment to the Republic of Moldova

On 29 March 2021, an online event marked the delivery of information technology (IT) equipment from NATO to Moldova’s Ministry of Defence. The IT equipment will be installed in the Ministry’s Transformation Directorate. It will contribute to move the Moldovan defence transformation effort forward.

NATO jets intercept Russian warplanes during unusual level of air activity

NATO fighter jets scrambled 10 times on Monday, March 29, 2021, to shadow Russian bombers and fighters during an unusual peak of flights over the North Atlantic, North Sea, Black Sea and Baltic Sea. In all, NATO aircraft intercepted six different groups of Russian military aircraft near Alliance airspace in less than six hours.

Coronavirus response: NATO support to the Republic of Moldova

On 29 March the Republic of Moldova received 100,000 face masks (FFP2) from NATO’s Pandemic Response Trust Fund. The donation was coordinated by NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) in response to Moldova’s request for international assistance. It was made possible with financial contributions by Luxembourg and Norway. The transportation from Luxembourg to the Republic of Moldova was made possible through the in-kind offer from Romania and carried out by the Romanian Air Force. The transportation was coordinated by the Standing Joint Logistics Support Group at the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE).

Coronavirus response: NATO and Poland support to Bosnia and Herzegovina

On 27 March 2021, Poland delivered medical equipment and supplies including face masks, protective gloves and clothes and COVID-19 Antigen tests to Bosnia and Herzegovina in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The donation was coordinated by NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre (EADRCC) and Poland to respond Bosnia and Herzegovina’s urgent requirement.
