NATO-Russia Council meets in Brussels

The NATO-Russia Council, which brings together all 29 NATO Allies and Russia, met in Brussels on Friday (5 July 2019) to discuss Ukraine, the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, and transparency and risk reduction. This was the second meeting of the NATO-Russia Council this year. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who chaired the meeting, said: “Our discussion was frank but necessary. Allies and Russia hold fundamentally different views but we are committed to continuing our dialogue.”

NATO-Russia Council meets in Brussels

The NATO-Russia Council, which brings together all 29 NATO Allies and Russia, met in Brussels on Friday (25 January 2019). NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who chaired the meeting, noted that Allies and Russia discussed two important topics: Ukraine and the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty. “On both of these issues, Allies and Russia fundamentally disagree, but that is exactly why it is important to talk – to address concerns, increase predictability and reduce risks,” he said.

The NATO-Russia Council, which brings together the 29 Allies and Russia, met in Brussels on Wednesday (31 October 2018). Ambassadors had an open exchange on several topics, including the situation in and around Ukraine; issues related to military activities, reciprocal transparency and risk reduction; Afghanistan; and hybrid challenges.

Secretary General discusses NATO-Russia Council

The NATO-Russia Council met on Thursday (26 October 2017) in Brussels, for the third time this year. NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, who chaired the meeting, noted that Allies and Russia had an open and useful exchange on three topics: Ukraine, Afghanistan and transparency and risk reduction. “Our dialogue is not easy, but that is exactly why our dialogue is so important,” he stressed.

Statement by the Secretary General on meeting of the NATO-Russia Council

Following consultations with the members of the NATO-Russia Council, I have invited them to a meeting at ambassadorial level. The meeting will take place on 30 March at NATO headquarters in Brussels.
