NATO Military Committee visit Georgia in show of continued support
The NATO Military Committee and its Chairman, Air Chief Marshal Sir Stuart Peach were in Tbilisi, Georgia on 27 and 28 March 2019. The NATO Military Representatives held a special Military Committee meeting in the NATO-Georgia format, visited the Vaziani Military Base and attended the joint NATO-Georgia Exercise.

Flag-raising ceremony marks Montenegro’s entry into NATO
The flag of Montenegro was raised at NATO Headquarters on Wednesday (7 June 2017) in a special ceremony to mark the country’s accession to NATO. Flag raising ceremonies were also held simultaneously at Allied Command Operations (SHAPE) in Mons and Allied Command Transformation in Norfolk, Virginia. Montenegro became the 29th member of the Alliance on Monday (5 June 2017) when it deposited its instrument of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty with the US State Department in Washington DC.

Montenegro joins NATO as 29th Ally
Montenegro became NATO’s newest member on Monday (5 June 2017), upon depositing its instrument of accession to the North Atlantic Treaty with the US State Department in Washington DC. At a ceremony marking the occasion, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg underlined that Montenegro’s accession to the Alliance contributes to international peace and security, and sends a strong signal that NATO’s door remains open. The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Duško Marković and by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Montenegro Srdjan Darmanović and was hosted by the United States Undersecretary for Political Affairs Thomas A. Shannon.

Financial and Economic Data Relating to NATO Defence - Defence expenditures of NATO countries (1990-2010)
The figures given in Table 1 represent payments actually made or to be made during the course of the fiscal year. They are based on the NATO definition of defence expenditure. In view of the differences between this and national definitions, the figures shown may diverge considerably from those which are quoted by national authorities or given in national budgets. Research and development expenditures related to major equipment are included in equipment expenditures and pensions paid to retirees in personnel expenditures.
