NATO Military Committee visits Allied Command Transformation in Portugal

From 20 to 22 March 2024, at the invitation of General Philippe Lavigne, Supreme Allied Commander Transformation, the NATO Military Committee travelled to Allied Command Transformation’s Joint Analysis and Lessons Learned Centre (JALLC) in Monsanto, Portugal. The NATO Military Representatives also visited the Naval Striking and Support Forces NATO (STRIKFORNATO) Headquarters.

“Ukraine does not stand alone”, says Chair of the NATO Military Committee at the Kyiv Security Forum

On 20-21 March 2024, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer was in Kyiv, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, Deputy Prime Minister for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, Olha Stefanishyna, Foreign Affairs Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Defence Minister Rustem Umerov, and Ukrainian Chief of Defence, General Oleksandr Syrskyi. This is the first NATO military delegation to visit Ukraine since the full-scale invasion. During his visit, Admiral Bauer addressed the Kyiv Security Forum.

Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits partner Ireland

From 26th to 28th February 2024, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer was in Ireland for an official visit at the invitation of the Chief of Staff of the Irish Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Seán Clancy. During the visit, he also met with the Secretary General of the Department of Defence, Jacqui McCrum, provided an address to members of the Irish Defence Forces and engaged with the Institute for International and European Affairs.

Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits Israel

On 27 and 28 September 2023, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer visited Israel upon invitation of the Chief of the General Staff of the Israeli Defence Forces, Lieutenant General Hertzl Halevi. In Tel Aviv, Admiral Bauer met with President Yitzhak Herzog. The Chair also received a briefing from senior Israeli defence officials; spoke to the Israeli Defence Force’s Senior Forum; visited the Gaza border crossing; and delivered a speech at the National Security College.

Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits Jordan

From 26 to 27 September 2023, Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer visited the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan upon invitation of the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Jordanian Armed Forces, Major General Yousef Huneiti. In Amman, discussions with high-level military officials centred on the longstanding and valued partnership between NATO and Jordan. During his visit, the Chair also had the opportunity to visit the King Abdullah II Special Operations Training Centre and to deliver a lecture at the Royal Jordanian National Defence College.

Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits Egypt

From 23 to 25 September 2023, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, visited Egypt upon the invitation of General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-In-Chief Of The Armed Forces, Minister Of Defense And Military Production. In Cairo, Admiral Bauer met with senior political and military authorities and delivered a lecture at the Nasser Higher Military Academy. Building on almost three decades of cooperation through the Mediterranean Dialogue, the visit provided an important opportunity to look in depth at the military cooperation between NATO and Egypt.

Chair of the NATO Military Committee visits the Republic of North Macedonia

From 3rd to 5th September 2023, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer was in the Republic of North Macedonia, at the invitation of its Chief of Defence, Lieutenant General Vasko Gjurchinovski. During his visit, he met with the President of the Republic of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski, the Minister of Defence, Slavjanka Petrovska and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bujar Osmani. Admiral Bauer also visited the “Wolves” Special Forces Battalion at the Ilinden Barracks. He concluded his visit by addressing members of the General Staff and the General Mihailo Apostolski Military Academy.

Chair of the NATO Military Committee commends Portugal for its global security vision

From 20 to 23 January 2023, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer was in Portugal, at the invitation of the Portuguese Chief of Defence, Admiral António Silva Ribeiro. During the visit, Admiral Bauer attended a military ceremony, with Admiral Silva Ribeiro, before heading to the Joint Command for Military Operations. He also met with the Portuguese Minister of Defence, Mrs Helena Carreiras.

“NATO fully respects Serbia’s policy of military neutrality”, says Chair of the NATO Military Committee

On 27 and 28 October 2022, the Chair of the NATO Military Committee, Admiral Bauer was in Serbia, where he met with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, the Minister of Defence, Miloš Vučević, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, the Acting Assistant Minister of Defence Policy, Predrag Bandić, and the Chief of Defence, General Milan Mojsilović. He also visited the NATO Military Liaison Office and gave a lecture at the University of Defence Military Academy. Throughout the visit, Admiral Bauer was accompanied by Colonel Milan Ranković, the Serbian Military Representative and Head of the Mission to NATO.

First Chair of the Military Committee to attend Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference

From 25 to 27 July 2022, Admiral Rob Bauer, Chair of the Military Committee attended the 24th annual Indo-Pacific Chiefs of Defence Conference in Australia. On the sidelines of the conference, he met with NATO Partners’ Chiefs of Defence of Australia, Japan and Mongolia, the Vice-Chief of Defence of the Republic of Korea as well as the Commander of the United States Indo-Pacific Command.
