IBAN conference at NATO HQ in Brussels, Belgium on 27 October 2022, on financial transparency and accountability as key elements of good governance

The International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) hosted a one-day conference at NATO HQ in Brussels, Belgium on 27 October 2022, on financial transparency and accountability as key elements of good governance. The objective of the conference was to raise the interest and to stimulate discussion with internal stakeholders, such as the Council, National Delegations, NATO bodies, and also external stakeholders, such as the Supreme Audit Institutions and citizens of NATO member states, the Partner Nations, other international organisations, audit institutions, and academia.

IBAN holds a virtual meeting about its Annual Activity Report 2021 with the national representatives of the Competent National Audit Bodies on 22 June 2022

The International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) held a virtual meeting on 22 June 2022 with the national representatives of the Competent National Audit Bodies (CNABs) to discuss the IBAN 2021 Annual Activity Report, as well as audit issues of mutual interest. Representatives from CNABs of 28 of the 30 NATO member states were able to participate in the virtual meeting and provided comments on the 2021 Annual Activity Report.

The International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) held a virtual meeting on 21 September 2021 with the national representatives of the Competent National Audit Bodies (CNABs) to discuss its 2020 Annual Activity Report, as well as audit issues of mutual interest. Representatives from CNABs of 29 of the 30 NATO member states were able to participate in the virtual meeting and provided comments on the 2020 Annual Activity Report.

IBAN goes virtual for meeting on Annual Activity Report

Each year the International Board of Auditors for NATO (IBAN) issues an Annual Activity Report on its audit work, key performance indicators, and usage of its human and financial resources of the previous year to the North Atlantic Council (NAC). The Report is sent to the Competent National Audit Bodies (CNABs) for comments, which are summarised and sent to the NAC with IBAN’s Annual Activity Report.

IBAN Board Member provides a lecture on Export Controls at the Dutch Royal Military Academy

On the 14th and 15th of September 2020, Mr. Karlo van den Akker, Board Member of the International Board of Auditors NATO (IBAN) provided a lecture to military students (OF-4 and OF-5 level) at the Dutch Royal Military Academy learning about Export Controls.

Nomination of IBAN new Board Member, Mr. Karlo van den Akker

Karlo van den Akker, born in 1964 in Rijen, the Netherlands joined the Dutch Royal Military Academy in 1983. After having finished the Military Academy he became an officer and served in several units of brigade and division level. In 1994 he started the postgraduate education on Accountancy at the University of Amsterdam and obtained his degree in 1997. During the education he was seconded by the Ministry of Defense to the audit firm KPMG.
