NATO political consultations with Armenia, Azerbaijan and Georgia Last week, the NATO Secretary General's Special Representative for the Caucasus and Central Asia, Mr. Javier Colomina, travelled to the South Caucasus, visiting Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Georgia. He held political consultations with the President and Prime Minister of Armenia, the Prime Minister of Georgia and the President of Azerbaijan, as well as other senior Government officials. |

The Deputy Secretary General thanked Minister Hasanov for Azerbaijan’s contributions to the NATO-led Resolute Support Mission in Afghanistan. |

During his visit, the Director General met with the Minister of Defence, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, the Chief of the International Military Cooperation Department, Major General Huseyn Mahmudov and the Commanders of the War College of the Azerbaijan Armed Forces and the Military Academy. While visiting the War College and the Military Academy, Lt Gen Broeks used the opportunity to address students and faculty members. |

Secretary General welcomes President of Azerbaijan to NATO Headquarters NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg welcomed President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to NATO Headquarters on Thursday (23 November 2017) for talks on the Alliance’s partnership with Azerbaijan and regional security in the South Caucasus. President Aliyev also met with the 29 Allied ambassadors in the North Atlantic Council. Mr. Stoltenberg praised Azerbaijan’s commitment to NATO’s Resolute Support mission in Afghanistan and its decision to increase troop contributions next year. He underlined that NATO’s practical cooperation with Azerbaijan is founded on a commitment to democratic values and covers many areas, from capability development to energy security. |
