The weekend of the 25th NATO Summit in Chicago on May 20 and 21 will be the culmination of months of negotiations, hard work and meetings led by Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen in order to achieve the Summit goals.

During the last two months, as summit preparations increased in intensity, a NATO photographer followed the Secretary General throughout many of these meetings and engagements, capturing personal images behind the scenes.

Taken during bilateral meetings with foreign and defence ministers, during public engagements around the world and even while taking a jog to relax, the images offer an insight into the world of the Secretary General leading up to a major summit.

In April, the Secretary General visited Afghanistan and Alliance foreign and defence ministers came to NATO Headquarters for final negotiations on the Summit themes of Afghanistan transition, capabilities and partnerships.

Around these engagements, and as the pace of preparations accelerated during May, the Secretary General continued to visit leaders to discuss preparations and negotiation the smooth running of the Summit.
