Italian Carabinieri train nearly 9 000 members of Iraqi Federal Police

Since their mission began in 2007, the ‘Carabinieri’ – the national gendarmerie of Italy – have trained 8 296 officers and 133 Iraqi instructors from the Iraqi Federal Police. Another 530 Iraqi police officers are currently enrolled in the 14th Leadership Training Course in Baghdad. The Italian contribution is part of the NATO Training Mission-Iraq that is striving to increase security in the country by building the capacity of the Iraqi Security Forces.
