Major General Peter VOJTEK was born on 8 January 1958 in Komárno, the Slovak Republic. In 1982 he graduated from the Military Academy in Liptovský Mikuláš. He continued his military education by postgraduate study at the same military academy from 1997 to 1999. He also carried out study at Military Academy of General Staff, Hamburg, Germany from 2002 to 2003.
During his military career he has held a variety of air defence force command positions as well as a variety of management positions within Inspection of the Ministry of Defence, General staff and operational HQs.
Major General Peter VOJTEK is married to Eleonóra, and they have two sons Peter and Marián.

2005 – 2007 : Deputy Commander, Slovak Air Force Headquarters
2008 – 2009 : Chief of J-1, General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces
2009 – 2010 : ACOS Support, General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces
2010 – 2011 : Commander of Training and Support Forces
MG Peter VOJTEK assumed duties as Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Slovak Republic on 16 December 2011.
