NATO organized a defence policy and strategy conference in Baku, Azerbaijan, on 30 September and 1 October. The event provided an opportunity for participants from Allied, Partner, Mediterranean Dialogue and Istanbul Cooperation Initiative countries as well as representatives from Japan and South Korea to discuss how the Alliance’s new Strategic Concept and its ongoing transformation were likely to affect partnerships.

The conference was chaired by NATO’s Assistant Secretary General for Defence Policy and Planning Jiri Sedivy, who was also the keynote speaker at a roundtable discussion organized jointly by the Euro-Atlantic Center and the NATO International School of Azerbaijan.

"The conference provides partners an opportunity to express their views on the ongoing work on the new Strategic Concept and different aspects of NATO's transformation", said Ambassador Sedivy, who will brief the Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council on the outcome of the conference on 14 October.
