NATO Secretary General discusses implementation of Kosovo de-escalation with EU Special Representative
Today (01 October 2021), NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg met with the EU Special Representative for the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue and other Western Balkan regional issues Miroslav Lajčák at NATO Headquarters in Brussels. During his visit, Special Representative Lajčák also exchanged views with the Permanent Representatives of the North Atlantic Council.

In an online event with the European Parliament on Monday (28 June 2021), NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană said that NATO’s Brussels Summit had set ‘a new level of ambition’ for NATO-EU cooperation, “including in areas such as resilience, new technologies, climate change, or strategic competition”.

Directors General of the NATO and EU International Military Staffs meet to assess ongoing cooperation
On Tuesday 16 March 2021, Lieutenant General Hans-Werner Wiermann, Director General of the NATO International Military Staff, hosted a virtual meeting with his EU counterpart, Vice Admiral Hervé Bléjean to discuss the ongoing EU-NATO cooperation, including in exercises, training, military mobility and medical cooperation. The meeting concluded with the presentation of the COVID-19 lessons-learned programme spearheaded by NATO Allied Command Transformation, with the support of NATO Centres of Excellence.

Secretary General: NATO-EU cooperation has reached unprecedented levels
Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg had discussions at the European Commission on Tuesday (15 December 2020) about how to further strengthen NATO’s cooperation with the European Union. While the Secretary General often meets with EU leaders and EU Commissioners, this is the first time that a NATO Secretary General attended a meeting of the College of Commissioners, a sign of the deepening partnership between NATO and the EU.
