The Parties to the North Atlantic Treaty, signed at Washington

Agree as follows:

Upon the entry in force of this Protocol, the Government
of the United States of America shall, on behalf of all the Parties,

Article 10 of the Treaty.

the deposit by the Government of the Republic of Turkey of its instruments
of accession with the Government of the United States of America, be
modified to read as follows:
For the purpose of Article 5, an armed attack on one or
more of the Parties is deemed to include an armed attack:

on the Algerian Departments of France, on the territory of Turkey
or on the islands under the jurisdiction of any of the Parties
in the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer;

Sea or the North Atlantic area north of the Tropic of Cancer.
Article
III
The present Protocol shall enter into force when each
of the Parties to the North Atlantic Treaty has notified the Government
of the United States of America of its acceptance thereof. The Government
of the United States of America shall inform all the Parties to the
North Atlantic Treaty of the date of the receipt of each such notification
and of the date of the entry into force of the present Protocol.
