NATO Euro-Atlantic Partnership Council Fellowships Programme

2002/2004

CANCELLATION OF THE NATO-EAPC FELLOWSHIP
MAINTENANCE OF THE MANFRED WÖRNER FELLOWSHIP

Following the selection of 34 candidates for a NATO-EAPC fellowship in June 2001, it was decided that the NATO-EAPC fellowships programme should be reviewed.

A decision by the NATO Council in October 2001 cancelled the regular NATO-EAPC fellowships. This decision was supported by the fact that financial resources needed to be reallocated to different sectors such as information activities in the Caucasus, Central Asia and Mediterranean Dialogue countries.

However, the Manfred Wörner Fellowship has been retained and will continue on an annual basis. At the time of writing, the Fellowship is under review in order to improve the selection criteria, enlarge the list of topics and ensure that the research project will lead to a publication. It is hoped that the new brochure and application form for the Manfred Wörner Fellowship will be published in the first semester of 2002.

As in the past, only one candidate or institution will be selected for this prestigious award, endowed with a value of EURO 20,000.
