Engineers, purchasers, mediators,
legal advisers, project managers : Scandinavian CIMIC soldiers cheerfully
wore many hats. Finally, what makes the difference it is not so

During a hand-over ceremony at
Lastava Villa, south of Trebinje, six de-mining dogs, three fully
equipped Land Rovers and six trained EAF dog handlers were signed
over to the EAF, ready to work in live mine-fields to free the land
from mines. The program, funded through SFOR by the governments
of Norway and Canada, will hopefully give a considerable increase
in the EAF de-mining capacity.

And

Doboj - The final result will give
a defensive position with three protected holes from which six soldiers
could stand shooting. The pillbox will probably never be used for
real, but it will act as a deterrent by its presence. As for the
work done by Nordpol sappers, it reminds us that keeping a deployed
army well protected and comfortable is a continuous process, sometimes
ungrateful, but always necessary.
