CIOR: Committees and Commissions

The Interallied Confederation of Reserve Officers (CIOR) is organized into several commissions and committees that meet a minimum of twice a year. The four commissions work on behalf of the Executive Committee. In addition to the standing Legal Committee and two subcommittees (Partnership for Peace and Strategic Planning), the Executive Committee can also appoint special committees for ad hoc tasks.

Commissions & Responsibilities

  • Defence and Security (DEFSEC) Commission: Policy and code of conduct; Mobilisation and demobilization; Peacekeeping and peacemaking; Reserve force recruiting, motivation and retention; Young Reserve Officers' Workshop
  • Civil Military Cooperation (CIMIC) Commission: Humanitarian aid missions; Aid to civil authorities; Aid to civil communities; Medical resources; Liaison with the CIOMR
  • Communications Commission (Comms): Public awareness of NATO; Public awareness of CIOR; Interaction with the democratic process; Communications methods, including management of the CIOR Internet site
  • Military Competition Commission (Milcom) Rules of the annual military competition; Organization and implementation of the annual military competition

Committees & Responsibilities

  • Legal Committee: Military law; Legal issues; Employer support; Employment protection; Legal competition
  • Partnership for Peace Committee (PfP): Establishes links with PFP member countries; Supports the creation of new associations for reservists
  • Strategic Planning Subcommittee: Presents a framework and focus for improvement efforts; Optimises organisational systems; Provides guidance for day-to-day decisions
  • Executive Committee: Oversees all CIOR activities. This committee is the highest authority in the confederation, composed of the President, Secretary General, Vice President and four delegates from each country.
