Sgt. John Lake

Sgt. John Lake was born in Cobourg, Ontario on 22 July 1960 and enrolled in the Canadian Forces in May 1984.

He completed basic training at Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Cornwallis, Nova Scotia and was posted to CFB Chilliwack, British Columbia where he underwent trade qualification training as a field engineer and was assigned to 1 Combat Engineer Regiment. In 1988 he was promoted to corporal and was posted to CFB Valcartier, Quebec and upon completion of the Continuous French Course was assigned to 5 Combat Engineer Regiment.

After trade reassignment to construction engineering procedures technician in 1990, was posted to the Base Construction Engineer Section at 8 Wing, Trenton, Ontario. In 1995 he was attached posted to the Canadian United Nations Mission in Haiti (UNMIH) as a member of the Canadian-American Engineer Battalion.

In 1997 he was promoted to master cpl. and posted to the Construction Engineer Section, CFB Borden, Ontario. In January 1998, as part of a trade merger, he became a resource management support clerk. Promoted to sergeant in 2002 he was transferred to the Canadian Forces Support Training Group Comptroller Section.

Sgt. Lake assumed his present position as operational assistant to the Senior Non-Commissioned Officer, Allied Command Operations, in July 2004.

He has been awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration, UNMIH Medal and the Canadian Peace Keeping Service Medal.
