    Background Information

    NATO's South East Europe Initiative is a series of programmes and initiatives aimed at promoting regional cooperation and long-term stability in the Balkans. According to NATO Secretary General Lord Robertson: "The region must be given a perspective of re-joining the European mainstream - because the clearest lesson of the past 50 years is that integration breeds trust, stability and prosperity."
