Activities Funded by NATO

Application by individual scientists

The Science for Peace and Security Programme offers grants to scientists in NATO, Partner and Mediterranean Dialogue countries to collaborate on priority research topics, which include NATO priorities and additional Partner country priorities. Grants are also offered to assist the academic community in Partner countries to set up computer networking infrastructure and to optimize their use of electronic communication.

Applications for support on topics in the priority areas are prepared jointly by working scientists in eligible countries of the Euro Atlantic Partnership Council (EAPC) and countries of the Mediterranean Dialogue. The collaboration must be between scientists in NATO countries on the one hand, and scientists in eligible Partner countries or Mediterranean Dialogue countries on the other (see 'Framework of the Programme'). There is a specific application form for each support mechanism; the application forms may be found under 'Grant Mechanisms & Application Forms'. The completed applications are submitted to NATO Headquarters, where they undergo international peer review. Applications may be submitted at any time, but three deadlines are set each year to meet the three review sessions of the scientific advisory panels.
