High-level meetings like today's are official technical discussions about security arrangements between the KFOR commander and designated officials that are within the 1999 Military Technical Agreement between Serbia and KFOR. (JPG/72KB) August 16 August 2007 A soldier does the low-crawl in an obstacle course during a competition August 14, 2007, at Jubilee Barracks in Pristina. A number of physical challenges were tackled as soldier's joined the Portuguese in observing their National Infantry Day. Teams from most MNTF's competed in the event. The day commemorated The Battle of Aljubarrota, which took place on August 14, 1385, between the forces commanded by King John I of Portugal and his general Nuno Álvares Pereira, and the army of King John I of Castile. The result was a decisive defeat of the Castilians and the end of the 1383-1385 Crisis, establishing John as King of Portugal. (JPG/914KB) June 27 June 2007 Serbian and NATO KFOR soldiers from Sweden meet at the administrative boundary line (ABL) between Kosovo and Serbia. The soldiers are part of a foot patrol used to monitor the ABL. Both groups of soldiers monitor their sides of the ABL in a synchronized fashion, meeting at certain points to exchange any information they may have gathered along the patrol. The patrols are done day and night, as well as out in the open and covertly. This is very important, according to patrol leaders, as their efforts thwart any illegal activity that may happen there. He is part of a 500-strong Operational Reserve Force that is deployed here for the third phase of operations exercise Determined Effort 2007. During DE 07, which continues throughout the year, various nations have deployed units here to ensure forces are well-trained and ready to meet any challenge. (JPG/461KB) 14 May 2007 About 1,800 KFOR members participated in the DANCON March at Camp Olaf Rye May 13. The march in Northern Kosovo challenged entrants by completing a 25 kilometer march within eight hours while wearing at least 10 kilograms of battle gear. The DANCON March is hosted by the Danish Batallion at Camp Olaf Rye.
