Transfer of Authority in Multinational Task Force South (MNTF S)

On Thursday, 28 May 2009, Brigadier General (BG) Thomas Starlinger transferred responsibility of over 3700 soldiers to BG Benedikt Zimmer, as the Multinational Task Force North (MNTF-S) Commander. 

The transfer of authority took place at Camp Prizren.  Austria is the first Non-NATO member that had the Command over a MNTF.  Soldiers from Austria, Bulgaria, Germany, Switzerland and Turkey aligned to the COMKFOR (Commander Kosovo Forces) Lieutenant General (LG) Giuseppe E. Gay, Lieutenant General Hoefler (Austrian Army), LG  Rainer Glatz (German Army), BG Starlinger (Austrian Army), BG Benedikt Zimmer (German Army) and numerous distinguished from Kosovo and abroad. BG Thomas Starlinger wished his successor “all the best and lots of soldiers luck for the new assignment”.
