The Prime Minister of the Czech Republic visits KFOR

On Thursday 15 of July 2004 The Prime Minister of Czech republic Vladimir Spidla and Minister of Defense of the Czech republic Miroslav Kostelka visited Czech and Slovak soldiers in Kosovo.

The ambassador in Serbia and Montenegro Mrs Judita Stouracova took part in this event. They meet with the commander of KFOR, German Lt.Gen. Kammerhoff. Following discussions with journalists the Prime Minister of Czech republic supported KFOR troops, the Prime Minister was sad that KFOR units are important for peaceful environment in Kosovo.

The Prime Minister trusts that Czech soldiers will stay in Kosovo as long as necessary. Both representatives of government met with the commander of MNB (C), Finnish BG Antti Lankinen. The Prime Minister and Minister of Defense visited Serbian village Babin Most, where they handed over a new ambulance vehicle as a humanitarian gift.

The local children received the ambulance vehicle from humanitarian organization "Stonožka". This event arranged Bela Jensen, the president of the humanitarian organization "Stonožka".

In the afternoon the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense visited base of the 5th Czech and Slovak battalion in Sajkovac. The Commander of battalion, LTC Antonin Genser informed them about the situation in 5th CZ/SK BG AOR. The Prime Minister of Czech Republic performed the medal parade by Czech and Slovak soldiers.

Both representatives of government awarded Czech and Slovak soldiers for their work in mission.

In the end of the visit the Prime Minister and Minister of Defense put wreaths on monuments of W-4 Ludka Severy and W-3 Vlastislava Hendricha, who perished in mission KFOR 2002.
