"The Theatre to the Citizens"
By Lt Marco Mattia, Italian Army

Back in the theatre at last.

PEJA/PEC, MNB West - On 12 April in Peja/Pec, KFOR troops from MNB West returned the Municipal Theatre to the town in an official ceremony. The Brigade has used the theatre as part of its own Headquarters.

Brig. Gen. Pierluigi Torelli, MNB West Commander, underlined the importance of the ceremony.
"With this act, Peja/Pec has a place dedicated to the arts and cultural activities - something symbolic, but important in the civil integration progress of the different communities in the area."
Afterwards, Torelli invited Mayor Ali Laijci and Giselle Gallenbach, the municipal administrator, to sign the formal document for the reconstruction of the theatre.
Laijci thanked KFOR for the work completed and also for what will be done in the future. In the end, he stressed the great importance of the military presence for the improvement of the general conditions in civil society.
Then, a rich artistic program divided into two parts followed. In the first part, professors Susana Jakupi and Lulzin Bucalini played clarinet and piano and Luan Sapunxhiu played guitar, along with some KFOR musicians who performed from various operas. Following that, the "Rugova" folk group performed from their rich repertoire of popular dances and songs.
