4 Feb. - Improved security situation is directly related to positive changes that the people and institutions in Kosovo are making every day. The recent elections were successfully run by institutions in Kosovo and the post-election issues have been handled in a democratic manner. These positive changes taking place across Kosovo have allowed KFOR to reshape and adapt to the improving security situation under “Deterrent Presence” plan.
4 Feb. - The Kosovo Force’s transition from the Task Forces to the Battle Groups stands for adaptation of troops’ capabilities to the positive achievements in the security situation’s development in Kosovo. At the same time KFOR’s adaptation of the Battle Group structure requires more agility and mobility with relying on more flexible operations throughout Kosovo.
4 Feb. - A group of Students from the High School Ismajl Qemajli in Kamenice/Kamenica performed a rock concert for members of the 231st Maneuver Task Force (MTF) January 15, as a gesture of thanks for years of cooperation and mentorship offered by Multinational Task Force - East (MNTF-E) Soldiers at their school.
4 Feb. - The commander of the Kentucky National Guard took time recently to personally thank his state’s Citizen-Soldiers, aviation and assorted specialists, who are on an important NATO peace-keeping mission here in Kosovo.
4 Feb. - On 14 January 2010 in Camp Vrelo, the Multinational Specialized Unit (MSU) Regiment conducted the Crowd Riot Control (CRC) Exercise.
4 Feb. - The Kishnice/Kisnica shooting range with its rugged, mountainous terrain was the location of the platoon tactical live firing exercise conducted by the Hungarian KFOR contingent’s infantry company (MNBG-W TF SOKOL B Coy) on January 14. This day was extraordinary in the platoon’s life since they had to perform in a completely unknown terrain. They needed all their experience to be successful.
4 Feb. - On 12 January 2010 the Austrian and Swiss fire brigade and paramedic relief units were put to the test by the helicopter squadron of Task Force “Mercury”. A simulation of a burning engine, on a German helicopter “Bell UH-1D”, required all the skills and know-how of the professionals. The scenario included a helicopter signalling “Engine on Fire” and making an emergency landing in Camp Casablanca on account of the precarious mine situation on the Dulje Pass, that however tragically ended in a crash-landing.
