Operational Update: Afghan-International Security Force Detains Militants in Wardak; ISAF Casualties
Militants Detained
KABUL, Afghanistan - An Afghan and international security force detained several suspected militants in Wardak province today after searching compounds known to be used by a Taliban commander believed responsible for coordinating a Taliban intelligence network in the region.
The joint force conducted the search without incident near the village of Kuz Janjay in Saydabad district after intelligence indicated militant activity. No shots were fired, and no Afghan civilians or joint force members were injured during the operation.
ISAF Casualties
Two U.S. service members were killed in an improvised explosive device attack in eastern Afghanistan, Oct. 16, and one U.S. service member was killed in an IED attack in southern Afghanistan on the same day.
